The IAS Mentorship Program connects individuals ranging in age to have the opportunity to meet with professionals who work or practice in the area where they may have interest in pursuing as and for their careers. 

High school and college students will now have the opportunity to link up with doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects, and many other fields of profession making it easier for our children to have a better idea for their future endeavors.

IAS New York’s mentorship program aims to provide an opportunity for Iranian Americans to receive guidance from highly accomplished professionals within our community. This new program strives to bring together the Iranian American community by providing IAS New York members throughout the Tri-State areas with opportunities for career exploration and professional development.

 

Objectives  

  • Offer mentees an opportunity to network and gain access to valuable experience. Encourage collaboration and establish a rapport between mentors and mentees. Promote solidarity and interaction within the Iranian American community. Create long-lasting relationships between participants and IAS New York.

Application Process   

  • The IAS New York Mentorship Program is aimed at Iranian Americans who are seeking professional development opportunities and attempting to address career challenges. 

  •  Approval Process Mentees are required to: 

    • Be IAS New York members   

    • Be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or legal visa holders (e.g., student’s visa) 

    • Send a request along with a resume to mentorship@IASNewYork.org   

Mentorship Framework

  • Each mentor provides 12 hours of their time to the IAS NEW YORK Mentorship Program which will be divided to accommodate maximum of two mentees for entire year. Mentee will be matched up with one of the mentees for 1-hour session spaced every two months. However, it can be extended to the other models like virtual mentoring.

The Relationship between Mentors and Mentees

  • The Mentorship Program is intended to foster a sense of partnership based on collaboration and trust. The primary focus of the mentorship program is the development of professional leadership skills. The relationship between mentor and mentee should be a non-judgmental relationship operating within agreed boundaries of confidentiality and timeframe.  Lastly, the relationship should offer all participants a way to get and stay involved with IAS New York and the Iranian American community at large.
