Please join the Iranian American Society of New York, Inc. (IAS) on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at Noon for its 42nd Annual General Meeting and Elections. This annual event is at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, New York where guests will enjoy a luncheon and hear and meet our guest speaker, Dr. Khosrow Dehnad. This will be followed by the Election of our Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term.

Dr. Dehnad, from Columbia University & New York University, will be presenting “Human Biases and their impact on our decision making”.
The humorist Artemus Ward once wisely remarked, “It ain’t so much the things we don’t know that get us into trouble. It’s the things we know that just ain’t so.” This observation resonates with the innate tendency of human beings to harbor cognitive biases, often leading them to perceive “order” and “pattern” even in the absence of such structures.
These biases wield significant influence over people’s decision-making processes, casting a shadow over the rationality of their choices. In this non-technical talk, he will discuss some of these biases and their influence on our decision-making process and illustrate their impact in areas like investment.
